Our “B to C (from Bach to Contemporary”) is a very popular program that started in 1998, and entering its 25th Season. Placing works of Bach and contemporary as the backbone of this program, performers freely choose what to play and present various “B to C” for many music lovers. For the fiscal 2022, selected 10 performers will be appearing on the stage with their strong personality; and enjoy chants of various instruments.

Ribon Aida, violin
Ribon Aida has won the first prize at the Rumania International Music Competition String Section and Japan Music Competition Violin Section and is currently a special guest concertmaster of City of Kyoto Symphony Orchestra. She will be presenting Japanese premiere of Adès’ work, commissioned by Tokyo Opera City Cultural Foundation, and other contemporaries, and works of Shostakovich.

Maki Tsuruta, trumpet
A young trumpeter with bright and soft sound, Maki Tsuruta is currently associate principal trumpet of the Sapporo Symphony Orchestra and with her piccolo trumpet, she will present works of Bach and Handel as well as of works commissioned to Akira Nishimura and others, including those composed by Toru Takemitsu and Berio among others searching new possibilities of the instrument she holds.
